Dit zijn de laatste woorden en maaltijden van ter dood veroordeelden
Wat zou jij willen eten als het je laatste maaltijd is? En wat zou je zeggen vlak voordat je geëxecuteerd wordt? In 27 van de 50 Amerikaanse staten is het mogelijk om veroordeeld te worden tot de doodstraf. Fotograaf Jackie Black legde de laatste zelfgekozen maaltijden van ter dood veroordeelden vast. Ook noteerde ze hun laatste woorden. Het resultaat? Een indrukwekkende reportage.

Fotograaf Jackie Black wil met haar project Last Meal het Amerikaanse rechtssysteem onder een vergrootglas leggen en fotografeerde daarom deze laatste maaltijden. Ze maakte 23 maaltijden na die daadwerkelijk zijn aangevraagd door geëxecuteerde gevangenen in de staat Texas. De foto’s zijn op dit moment te zien in The Parrish Museum in New York.
