Het is dus traditie, maar op televisie verschijnen met een askruisje is tot nu toe nog niet vaak gezien. Veel mensen vroegen zich op social media af waar dit plotselingen fenoneem vandaan kwam. Een presentator van Fox News legde zijn actie uit op Twitter: "Het is Aswoensdag en ik ben naar de kerk geweest, vandaar het askruisje, voor degenen die het vroegen."
